It has been a pleasure working with Miss Coco. She has taught me the value of self-esteem and high expectations of oneself and others, and demonstrated how these factors impact student learning" |
What we offer:
pulsating rhythms and movements .. intercultural awareness...physical renewal... cultural connections... confidence...inclusion
The development of mobile dance classes/workshops is based on the Director's personal journey of being disconnected from her multi-ethnic ancestry and using the arts to bridge the gap. The absence of culturally relevant programming, her long commutes to areas where limited cultural arts was available was a catalyst to create arts-based learning opportunities. Classes/workshops are delivered to neighbourhoods and regions where African and Caribbean styles of dance are inaccessible. Participants benefit from trained cultural practitioners and intergenerational artists that highlight the history, social significance and contributions of indigenous African, Caribbean diaspora to today.
