After my acceptance to the Vibe Arts: NeXt Black Futures residency, Miss Coco was not only an incredible mentor but one I can trust to share my vulnerabilities without judgement. The stress level around my creative practice dropped dramatically and I shamelessly credit my improved time management skills to her thoughtful guidance. I was fully supported and motivated by Miss Coco and her honest, nurturing teaching." |
MENTORSHIP IN THE ARTS
One of the advocacy areas of focus is mentorship of Black artists. The act of paving it forward to support emerging artists, Miss Coco shares perspective and guidance from concept to project management, goal setting, grant writing and financial literacy. With a focus on Black arts mentorship, Coco advocate for and works with several young artists as a mentor with arts organizations or through individual bookings. Skills development, confidence building, support in navigating the arts sector and access to resources is what Miss Coco can offer to racialized artists.
